All pieces of this leash including the rope have a 220lb working load. This is a quick release clasp you pull out on it to release the latch. This needs to be attached to a leash with a thicker ring, if the ring is to small it will open on its own. These are metal clasps and they will rust when left wet. We recommend making sure that all the metal pieces are fully dry. If rust starts to happen use a Q-tip and some CLR and it will be back to new.
